Excursions in Zaragoza

Zaragoza is a historical piece of land in Spain and it has many remains of the different civilizations from various periods. Following are some of the excursions in Zaragoza.

Route to Moncayo in Zaragoza:

Ebro is a valley which is located at a distance of forty-three kilometers from the city of Zaragoza. There is an old settlement in this valley belonging to Iberian times called Bursao and this valley has the remnants of the first residents in Spain. The Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar stands on the banks of Ebro.

Borja is the nearest village from this valley and it is the centre of many important monuments, including a vini-cultural area. You will find a fortress, a shell house and a monastery in this village with great historical preserves.

Vernela is the monastery which is located at a distance of seven kilometers from Borja and it was established during 1146 and this monastery has a fortress in the surroundings.

You will find another monastery at the base of Moncayo, which is the biggest mountain in this province.

Tarazona is another historical area to visit in Zaragoza, as you will find some very interesting and historical places in this region of province. There is the famous Plaza de Toros, Town Hall building and a cathedral which was constructed during the 13th century.

Route to Mudejar Style in Zaragoza:

Mundejar is a common style in whole of the Spain, but Zaragoza contains various monuments and building which are built in this specific style villa holiday spain. Christians in Spain introduced this style of construction when they re-conquered Spain from the Moors. You will also find many monuments belonging to Moorish styles.

Calatayud is the second biggest town in Zaragoza and it is located at a distance of eighty- six kilometers from the province of Zaragoza. This town has very interesting and old historical places from the Roman and the Moorish ages.

Route to Romanesque Style in Zaragoza:

This region in Spain was ruled by Romans as well for several years and they have left many interesting monuments in this area.

There is an old church in Ejea de los Caballeros, which was constructed during the 13th century. If you will visit Uncastillo, then you will find an important fortress from medieval ages and this fortress is situated at the top of a rock. Santa Maria las Mayor, San Juan are other interesting monuments to visit in this area.
